Re: Hydro-Foiling on the Waves

Cheers Peter, When I decided to build a hydrofoil my goal was to ride this wave. Yesterday I achieved that goal. What did I learn? I was on the 4m in 25 knots so perfectly powered for the 4. Wind was cross off as with this photo. Wave size about the same but cleaner. Big waves are so much faster hav...

Re: Hydro-Foiling on the Waves

Gave these waves a go yesterday on the HF. Madness I tell ya!.

I was over powered to hell on the 4m. Wind was a gusty as 40 knots. But I didn't die and I got onto a few faces. So next time theres less wind it should be all on!

Re: Mounting a hydrofoil on your TT

That challenge arises that you want stiffness at the for the foil connection but need flexibility at the tips for a high performance TT. You want a nice nose scoop for touch downs on a foil board but wont get that on a TT. So... yourl end up with a compromise of foil board and Tt performance. My co...

choose the right gear for the day

sounds like hydrofoil isn't it

That day was 9-12 knots. So no other kitesurfing equipment was better. But.... I should have busted out the kitebuggy, that would have been much more fun!

So ultimately you are right. Wrong tool for the conditions

Bloody onshore dumping wave combo.

I went out the other day in an onshore. At the tide I went out in theres a bit of a shelf and the waves pitch and dump. The waves weren't too big, but big enough to push me back when ever I got close to the shelf. The shelf is at chest height and you need to get past this point to water start. Man h...

Re: Mast/strut ventilations: what to do

So. Ventilation is when you breach a wing and introduce air to the lifting surface which means you loose lift and usually crash. Cavitation is when the pressure drop is so great between top and bottom wing that and the velocity is high enough to cause vaporization of the low pressure zone on the win...

Re: Cresting waves in sideshore wind

Just to recap, 20-28 mph, Side shore head high waves 5 Sec period. That is epic boosting conditions!. Here's what I do. Peaking ramp: Smash it as fast as you can send it and boost to the moon! Not peaking? boost it anyway if you have enough speed or absorb it with your legs. Dumping wave: Got power ...
