Re: What is the biggest risk self launching?

Biggest risks are (which lead to injury or death or injury to someone else): 1- Lines tangled 2- Lines catch debris 3- launching in a wind shadow and as it goes up gets 2x the pull you were expecting 4- obstacles close proximity downwind of you 5- you get pulled / dragged as it goes up. So..... 1. D...

Re: Total eBay nightmare

This happens once in a while on ebay... When buying, always look at the seller's feedback first. Never buy from someone who has no feedback or very little feedback, or no feedback on the types of product you are buying. If a seller has a good track record of selling kite gear described as is and lot...

Re: Kite Vacation / Locations with wife that doesnt kite

Great info - Thanks Dimip! After doing more research the beaches just north of Glyfada looks nice and wavy and more tame. And a beach there for the wife to chill with a drink in hand. What about Kite Sizes for March - May? I have 12m/10m/8m.... Bring all of them? I was thinking bringing my 12/10 and...

Re: Kite Vacation / Locations with wife that doesnt kite

End of April beginning of May Greece ticks all your questions ;) :) Thanks dimip - can you recommend some locations / islands / beaches that have the "walk to launch" from nice hotels/B&Bs? Sure Greece is a must destination if you have never been and the islands and generally Greece is a safe desti...

Kite Vacation / Locations with wife that doesnt kite

Hi Guys - Looking to venture out of my local spots and take a trip somewhere in the world to kite. The only caveat is the wife is coming with me and she doesnt kite. If it were up to me, I'd stay in a hostel / share a room and eat PB&Js and not shower for a week. But since she is with me, more suita...

Re: how many squaremeters between the first 2 kites for a beginner?

Agree with plummett and knotwindy... takes some time to learn to ride efficiently and safely on bottom and top end of kite range. The goal beginning is to water start, plane, then how to sheet/move the kite to ride upwind and transition. Riding in 15kt compared to 18kt say on a 12m is a Big differen...

Re: 2016 Mako 150 review

I am 78 kg What size and style kite you planning on using on most days? My local is 15-20kt (occasional 25kt) so I'm using 10m and 12m Enduro 90% of the time in wind blown swell / chop with my 150m. I'm not familiar with 2012 model of mako in terms of the core. Mine is 2015 and is not wood I don't t...
