You've really gotta check-out the vid to see the true extent of the disaster and how it relates to the inherent instability of RAM AIRS, but here's another shot:

Horrible Ram Air Disaster

Florian Gruber was involved in a HORRIBLE disastrous crash, caused LARGELY by his RAM AIR KITE! You can check-out the video on Florian's FACEBOOK page: you'll notice his RAM AIR kite collapsing, folding, and inverting in the middle of the power zone, causing Florian to be smashed repeatedly into the...

If you want to do all those things with one kite type chuck the speeds in the bin. They are useless for waves.

Re: Advice for buying 1st Foil Kite

Me want details! Pump me up! :thumb: Thanks for asking Matteo. Since the principal reason for wanting to buy an inferior RAM AIR (FOIL) kite seems to be light winds, I'll focus on that first: LIGHT WINDS Ram airs are inferior light wind kites for the following reasons: a) Excessive drag (bridles, l...

Re: Advice for buying 1st Foil Kite

Hi all, Im thinking of buying a foil kite, but have no clue where to start. Was hoping some of you could educate me a bit. PLEASE don't buy a foil (ram air) kite. They are aerodynamically inferior to inflatables and have REAL problems in light winds. Lemme know if you'd like details. :thumb: Pumpy ...

Re: So once and for all...Speed 5 for light wind...??

Ok, ok, for those clamouring for more information, these are the reasons for not buying a Speeed 5: After several weeks of use, ram air bridles typically stretch and deform, further compromising aerodynamic performance: http://www.kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2358958&start=0 SAFETY Inflatables...

Re: So once and for all...Speed 5 for light wind...??

Please don't buy a Speed 5 for light wind. Ram airs like the Speed are aerodynamically inferior compared to inflatables and, for the critical issues of self-rescue and intrinsic floatation, necessary in ultra-light winds, they are hopeless. Please let me know if you'd like more information. Pumpy .....

Re: Trick to keep foil kite from stalling

Ram air kites are highly prone to stalling. Below are some of the reasons for this problem, along with helpful suggestions on how to deal with the stalling issue: After several weeks of use, ram air bridles typically stretch and deform, further compromising aerodynamic performance: http://www.kitef...

For sure I am not PMU ! ...
I can confirm that PMU and Toby are completely different. One is a highly respected kiteboarding industry insider and the other is a bizarre anonymous forum troll.
