Re: Warning: if you try sliding hook you will never go back.

Been riding this simple slider for almost two years. :D
A tight line will slide easy.
And a slack line with a V moves much less.

I want to try a pulley or some plastic tubing to reduce line wear.

Vintage kites that are still relevant

Year after year I buy new kites. New stuff is fun. But a few of my old kites were really good. In 2008, I had a six meter Eclipse Nano, that we called the bumble bee. It was scary fast, well balanced and had no problems. Sorry I sold it. Recently I bought an old 2010 Slingshot Key in good condition,...

Re: New 2015 naish pivot?

On the wave, you want the kite to be quiet and stop pulling you around. The Park is stronger and may pull you out of the sweet spot or provide power when you don't want it. The Ride is quieter and has less punch. For strapless wave riding, I like the Ride. Guess we will wait and see what the Pivot i...

Re: Sick of wax!

NorthshoreInc has the best. Located in Hood River, Oregon. USA.
Get the waffle pattern for maximum traction.
Get peel and stick unless you want to use contact cement.

Also, DaKine makes a $40usd Long Board Pad that is ok.

Re: Advice for a big guy

Unless you kite in San Diego or Florida, I hope a 17m will be your biggest kite. What is more important is your board. It should be sized to your weight. Get a big big board. Get a too big board. You won't regret it. In a surfboard you are looking for 6-6 length, 23" wide and 40 to 50 liters. Look a...

Re: Low bar pressure kites

I cured it permanently with six months of exercise and a $20 blue Theraband. Theraband FlexBar comes in only yellow, red, green, and blue. The blue is listed as heavy and I was reluctant to select it. But I am a fit 180 pounds 75 kilos and it was a good resistance for me. If you are more seriously ...

Re: Any wave advice for the infrequent rider,

Dont ride toeside - you will lose upwind very fast, you will be tired on your rear leg, and you will not be able to cope with breaking waves at all :o Just JIBE , no matter if surfing around or turning the board by hand. Peter Peter, there is more to the story. Twin tippers only learn heelside. But...

Re: Low bar pressure kites

Once upon a time I developed tennis elbow from a Naish Shockwave. It had bar pressure that was no less than brutal. I cured it permanently with six months of exercise and a $20 blue Theraband. Here is the equipment and the exercise that worked for me. You could add ice and ibuprofen, depending on yo...

Re: ranking surfboard construction Firewire/hydroflex/surfte

Firewire…don't leave it in the sun, or in a hot car. Nice smooth damp ride until they delam or buckle. Old Surftechs are cheap and abundant secondhand and light and super strong...... Some say they ride too buoyant and chattery, but others prefer them. I have five Firewires. I bought two of them ne...

Re: QuikFin Kick Starter

Suggestion

No need to invent an expensive custom made bolt.
Adapt your design to use a standard bolt.
There are many choices easily available for pennies.

Simple, cheap and user friendly is the way to go.
Good luck with your project,
WW
