Re: New kite for hydrofoiling

I agree all the advices above are great about the high aspect ratio kite. :thumb: So what it boils down however strutless are NOT suggested Any Kind, mainly because of the range and on & off power attribute caused by bastardized limited canopy support, :!: Those kind of limitations are not desirabl...

Re: Best glue for epoxy-rubber application?

Here is an instructional for installing automotive weatherstripping adhesive, I think he's using a 3m product.

Re: Best glue for epoxy-rubber application?

There is a commercial product that comes in the same type of tubes as caulking does. It is black in color, at least the one I saw was. It adheres to epoxy, and rubber. Unfortunately, that's all I know about it. This is definitely the key to what you want to do. I wish I knew more. It may possibly be...

Re: Serious pinholes issues on the 2014 Ozone REOs

Not the case unfortunately, all my current kites are hand me downs and 2012 or older, with many repairs. Can't afford ANY new gear, let alone high end Ozone race kites, or Channel Islands boards for that matter. If anyone should lobby for beefier construction, it would be me, but the overbuilt kites...

Re: Serious pinholes issues on the 2014 Ozone REOs

I don't have Ozone kites, but I once laid my 2008 Ozone Instinct out on some rocks after I dropped it in the surf, to better dry it out. The wind had died you see. I failed to notice when the wind came back up and in just 15 minutes there were lots of pin holes in the canopy. I felt like an "idiot" ...

Re: Open Water Swimming

I don't, but I should. Reading the previous post is motivating. A recent near drowning (should post in the stupid story thread) even more so. Kites put me out well beyond where I could swim back. Stuff happens, ropes and lines break, leashes snap, safety systems pop and fail. And I can't swim very w...

Re: ranking surfboard construction Firewire/hydroflex/surfte

Funny you should mention TL2. I just had to open, fill and patch my TL2 Surftech. The foam under the front heel had compressed and not rebounded, yet the epoxy skin held it's shape and delaminated away from the core. This made a void. Dunno how much water that core can absorb, but just that space it...

Re: ranking surfboard construction Firewire/hydroflex/surfte

Sorry to say but both of you are wrong EPS doesn't absorb water either. Ever seen a trash piece of styrofoam not floating on water? You must ride some pristine beaches in Nor Cal, because unfortunately almost any beach in the world you can find that 50 lb piece of water logged Styrofoam laying arou...

Re: Roberts Hydroflex "The Ill"

Tried the BDT in PU construction, best board ever for kiting. Turns like it's on rails. The Ill must be really good. That new construction method has to be better, if not the best new technology out there. Well worth the money. (Unlike the heavy bamboo production garbage that comes out of China).......
