Re: IKA new course racing equipment for 2013

The new rule should only affect the new entrants to the list. If your already on the list they don't have any rules that will pull you off it yet do they?

Re: How to put "socks" to lines???

Socks will find any lines you leave laying around the house not secured inside a bag. He will then pull them off the bar and run them around furniture and make a giant snarled ball. Bad socks... not yarn. No!

Joking aside are you asking about the chafe guard on the ends you attach to the pigtails?

Re: Los Barilles Lord of the Wind

The bottom gets deep quick so the legs may not be as long as some of the other setups. It's a fun spectator setup with lots of fun turning.

Re: Racing strategy books anyone???

I think I was thinking of Higher performance sailing by Frank Bethwaite not to be confused with Not high performance sailing by Frank Bethwaite. Haven't read it yet but it's on my list. May have to read it after I finish The Labyrinth of Dreaming Books.

Re: Racing strategy books anyone???

Didn't someone put out a high performance specific book a few years ago? Aimed at skiffs, cat, spritboats, sport boats and boats that make lots of apparent wind. Can't remember the name.

Re: Depower question

Yes the 4:1 system will be around 2x the length of the stock... and that is 4 times the amount the 2:1 shortens. So figure adding around the length of the 2:1 in extensions. Don't forget to account for knots and splices when ordering line. Having a bit of extra is great though as it makes good repla...

Re: Depower question

Set the 4:1 length a little longer then 4 times the decrease in length with the stock depower straps. Measure the fully powered and shortened lengths. I think most strap systems are 2:1 but don't quote me. Make sure you factor in the distances for the turn on the blocks. Your 3:1 or 4:1 length depow...
