Re: Will we see the first foil kite at King of the Air 2019?

Since snowkiting has no real minimum wind needed to get moving there are TONS of days when i'm roaming around and all the people flying LEIs are sitting around watching waiting for wind. If you know how to use a big LEI limit of minimum wind is very low for snowkiting. Many LEI users actually don't...

Re: Will we see the first foil kite at King of the Air 2019?

What a disastrous advertisement for ram airs!! Check out the ram air kite collapsing and deforming between 28s -> 34s. This could've easily ended in tears, injuring the rider and/or the windsurfers. It really emphasises the inherent dangerousness and instability of ram airs: because of excessive ki...

Re: Looking for Advice on Winds for My 11m LEI Kite

All depends on board skills and conditions. I can hold down more power on snow than I can on water, but if you're in two feet of powder it's much different than riding on ice. The thing to watch for on land though vs the ocean is it tends to be way more inconsistent and gusty on land, so always size...

Re: Need Help with using P-tex

The metal grip and iron method is way easier than ptex candles and it lasts way longer. Just make sure to do it in a really well ventilated area, don't breathe in any of that stuff, and have something sharp and flat to scrape it smooth after.

Re: Need Help with using P-tex

Since that snowboard base looks like a cheaper extruded and not sintered like the ski pic posted I dont think I'd even put that much money into it for a stone grind, just fill the holes with ptex ribbon (base weld) and use a super sharp scraper or planer to get it flat after.

Re: Need Help with using P-tex

The ptex candles are easier to use but the repairs will rip out pretty quickly after a few sessions due to the wax that allows them to burn. It's better to get ptex repair ribbon (doesnt contain wax) and a ptex gun or iron, or even cheaper a soldering iron which you then use to melt the ptex in, you...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Think snow!!!! I'm ready just purchased my newest kite. Feeling poor again.:) 17m Contra who needs big wind? Nice! Big kites are so much fun, last year my 20m ultralight foil was my most used kite (kiting pretty much every day all winter) and this year I expect the new 21m ultralight to be my most ...

Re: Casualty in Sicily

So, it is ok to play Russian Roulette with a gun in your mouth or stumble around on a high speed roadway drunk because if it isn't your time, no harm? What about using common sense keeping the gun out of your mouth in the first place, off the highway and staying out of squalls, particularly ones th...

Re: Free kite plans on GitHub

Thanks nixmatters! No leech line, just a strip of 30mm Dacron - used on both my builds so far seems to work well. Are you on a build project? Kitejumping - as well as the joy and satisfaction of a build there is the option of building in to your own preferences - I love strutless kites and BRM Clou...
