Re: What is your HF kite quiver?

I'm fully fucked on my 12 Chrono at 16 knots on my foil. 2 years ago, I'd be on my 6m dice in 16 knots of wind. Now I'm happy on the 15m sonic2 in 16 kts. Probably 3x as much projected area! The newer race kites are easier to ride with more power. Sonic2 is a lot easier to ride powered and fast tha...

Re: Foil balance question

Yeah that was the experience I had when I tried the foil fish also. I don't know if shimming helps. It is a fairly sudden breakdown of loft when you push it.

Re: What is your HF kite quiver?

On Delta race foil, 75 kg (165 lbs): 18m sonic2 6-13 kts 15m sonic2 11-17 kts 11m sonic2 16-24 kts 9m sonic2 20+ kts I never really ride the 9m much anymore. We get really big chop in over 20 kts so I don't usually go out. 11m takes me to 20 kts no problem now. 15m lines on all kites, except 17m lin...

Re: hydrofoil at max speed limit

Yeah, for good foils, you push in as much power as you can, and go as fast as you dare. Cavitation is a limit at very high speeds, but I don't think even the fastest foil riders in the world (40-45 knots) are limited by cavitation yet. The faster you go, the faster your reactions need to be. More ef...

Re: America's Cup 2021, the hydrofoil AC75

Will be interesting to see! Have they said how the ride height is controlled? Is the entire arm-thing articulated to change the hydrofoil angle or is there just a trailing edge flap like on a moth? The biggest concern I've heard from others is that foil sticking out to windward at deck level will be...

Re: Tight racing at Formula Kite World Championships Oman as France’s Nico Parlier asserts dominance

That sucks! Doesn't even sound like a difficult situation to avoid, or much to gain from Maxime. It's the first time I see that big crash in kiteboarding and we definitely do not want to see such a dangerous sailing. That is true. This is the most severe crash I've heard about. Have there been any o...

Re: Worlds Top Kitefoil Racers Ready for Battle in Years Biggest Clash

Why did they seperate them out into such small fleets? 1 or 2 fleets seems like should have been fine with 45-50 competitors

Re: Line length advice needed for 15m R1V1 on foilboard

Yeah, I had the same experience. Took a while to get used to the shorter lines. First time I tried 17m lines, it felt way too short, but now used to 15m lines and planning to go shorter on my next bar. I think a 15m set of lines with extensions to get whatever length you want should work well. Not s...

Re: Buoy for race training

Thanks for the ideas! Those big orange bumpers are nice, but pricey. I got a big beach ball and tied up some lines and an anchor to it, but never wound up using it because didn't think I'd be able to kite out with it. I like the idea of a flag on a small buoy. I can go put it out on a clam day with ...

Buoy for race training

Anyone have a good way to drop a buoy for race training when you don't have a boat? Mainly I want to practice hitting laylines. There aren't any buoys in convenient spots. They're all either part of a busy channel or too far offshore. It has to be fairly large so that it can be seen from several hun...
