Re: Cloud 17 Full Review vs. Speed 3 21meter

First I love that any thread talking about clouds is almost guaranteed to get a bunch of folks worked up. That this kite can get so many folks animated, regardless of which side you are on, says something about the kite. I have a cloud 17 and a 9, 12, and 14 rebel of various years. This is my 3rd ye...

Is there any chance of getting a picture of your modification?

Re: kite-fix glue

I tried kite-fix on a strut repair and it failed miserably. I ended up pulling the strut off the kite, un-stitching about 3/4 of the strut and then sewing around the the damaged section and the part of the cloth that had to be cut out because of the glue mess. The resulting fix has seemed to hold up...

Re: Stupid parents.

Good job on remaining calm and you did the right thing. Moved to avoid them and informed the parent. Sadly, even after you moved and told the parent a second time, if one of them had been hurt by your gear, even if they themselves tensioned the lines and relaunched the kite, the likely resulting law...

Re: Strutless kite in development on Maui

I would prefer a kite that performs better in a smaller wind range to one that is mediocre in a large. That said if I could get down to a quiver of 1. Light wind 2. Let's play 3. Holy Cow! I just saw a house fly by! That would be pretty sweet. I don't know that I'd go much over 20m for size but that...

Re: Beginner launch

Self launch is not something to try on by yourself the first time. While I was learning I asked one of my local kite friends to walk me through a couple launches and landings. Something you can work on is putting the kite down in the shallows and then relaunching it. This keeps your kite in the wate...

Re: check this out: a very cool new wind meter

I'm happy to see both of these options coming to market. In the end people will either find use in them and buy or not. Both look like solid products that I wouldn't mind having in my kite bag.

Re: Strutless kite in development on Maui

I'm a newer kiter in my 3rd season. I bought a cloud a few months back as my light wind kite. I can echo a number of the other comments already made. The cloud for me is very predictable, quick turning, and generates great power in light wind. I've only had it fall out of the sky on me when I've bee...

Re: Trainer kite to teach daughter

The two/three line trainers are OK for teaching the basics of how to handle a kite but they don't depower so it doesn't completely translate. That said....I have the HQ 350 and its too much I think. Because it is all on all the time, if you take it out in good wind you get a lot of pull when you bri...

Re: Leash discussion

Get hit in the head by what? Shark? If you want to be safe, a full PFD would be the most useful. I never could figure out why someone would wear a helmet but no PFD. The main reason for a helmet is hitting if something goes wrong on land and you hit a hard object. When you look at the statistics of...
