I only own the 19XR2LW at this time (30 sesh/50 hrs)..& when i had the 21 i did (100 sesh/250 hrs)

Here is the prove.
50h/30s = 1.66 hour/session
250h/100s = 2.5 hour/session

I realized that i typed in the wrong number after submitting the article about the sessions of the 21
Since i kite on average per month 10 times on large kites

The amount of sessions on the 21 was actually 180 times ( i had the kite 1.5 year / 18 months)
The XR2 19 i have owned for 3 months so 30 sessions

Now lets use your calculation and you will see that i had less time per session on the 21

250h/180s = 1.38 hour/session

I hope this helps you understand that i love / loved  them both

I will answer all the others questions in more detail later...i am at lunch now

Best regards....Supa happy :D

   Where did you get that from

I loved riding that kite....i mastered that kite.....but i got tired waiting for a Speed4...so i changed

Hey there maybe people out there who kite as much as me in LW....but not more

Hey there maybe people skilled as much as me in LW...but not more

Unless you have kited more years in LW

Windsurfed more years in LW

Raced sailboats more years in LW

Started sailing at age 6 and are older than me...i doubt you have any worthwhile advice for LW

When it comes to LW fun i haven't got time to waste or lie about it

Read all about it on the Core website....if someone want a fun big kite..but not a 21..consider the 19

supa,

so how much turning speed difference there is for the 17 and 19?

Also with the surfboard and with weigh of 170lbs or 80 kgs, what size would you take for the light wind riding?

Thanks!

Just guessing :)

But Speed4(ish) is there (similar to LEI marketing). New bar and improved colors/graphics. :) Laws of aerodynamics has not changed..

About the Core, I like the idea of implementing dynamic projected area change on LEI (or is it just marketing). Now copy OR Venturi / FS Jetflaps to Core for improved AoA range and maximum lift. And finally build a variable wing camber into XR2... And you get the triple-depower...

If we are talking about lower-cost alternatives to Speed, I checked that there is a 21m Zeeko Notus. Has anybody seen it, weighted it or tried it? My rationale is if it is the same size as Speed and if weight is not much different, its low-wind flying capabilities should be roughly the same.

Turning speed is very close...19 just a tad, smidgen, hair slower

For LW the 19M at my 75kg weight pulls more and i get more height in my transition moves

LW for me and my wife who rides the 17 at 50kg (surfboards strapped) in surf is 8 knots/go upwind

9 knots the jumps start....10 knots the jumps are much higher....13 knots+ major jumps / airtime etc..

Up to 18 knots EZ for me and 15 knots EZ for my better half

I really don't see how this is impressive for lightwind if I weigh 184# and can ride in the same conditions with Switch Element 15 for half the price :thumb:

I can do the same with 21m+6m extension and non-buoyant Flydoor twintip (~4.5m/s for easily going upwind, 4m/s holding the line and less that downwind rescue to beach based on meteorological anemometer 1km away on the inland lake 100m above sea level, 100km away from the sea in a colder climate than Florida(?) but less humid (if you want all the parameters in a glance)) what you can do and I weight 110kg + probably 5kg gear (helmet, pfd, full 5/3mm wet suit, shoes, gps logger, gopro helmet cam, rescue knife).

So you say you are *the* best light wind rider in the world because you say that and started to be offensive IMO without a need. I give you a friendly challenge.

Take 50kg of water ballast with you and try LW (8kn like on this thread topic) to see how good you actually are and how good your gear is. If you can milk the same performance out of you on this test (with Core with equal line length to my 21m+6m) what I need to do every time I kite in LW then you are better than me as if you can plane/go upwind on a "lesser" kite/gear. With you taking the water ballast we can compare as it is not easy for me to loose 45kg.

With more rider weight you need to drive kite and board with more care, touch and precise input to have enough Newtons out from the kite (driving kite to its limits) to allow you to plane with non-buoyant board (with this I mean a board which does not carry your weight). I would imagine that for a guy seeing 75kg on a scale screen 4m/s / 8kn on a 21m2 is quite simple task because I've seen similar guy (80kg) newbie to foils to ride on 3.3m/s (measured on my handheld anemometer) on a normal freestyle twintip and I could not ride.

Like I said there are no compromises in LW/ULW and I think currently only 1-4 kites (Speed3 21m, Speed2 19m, X-19, Speed3 19m probably in that order) could enable *me* to kite in those winds and I suspect Core 19 is not one of them. Why do I think so? Because those kites has longer leading edge and flattest profile and most lift comes from leading edge and as much lift as possible has to be paraller to lines. They also alter camber of the wing (think airplane flaps) so they can be trimmed for bigger pull power range. Those same kites will give even more fun for lighter people in LW because they have power to do it. I used the be only one in foils&riding but now there are many Speed3 and X-19s on my area.

But there is one Core 19m in my area and I want to test it when we meet at the beach. But I'd not buy it blind for a test. One homeland guy bought Turbine (blind) and now he is selling it because he cannot even drift launch (no beach) it on his conditions. Kite won't even get up from the water, but his Flysurfer is.

And 5m/s is not a light wind in my wind scale, it is a normal wind. And I've ridden 21m at 13m/s with fairly large board, no problem on upper end. So 21m excels there if LW get's non-LW when you are out or there is a big gust.

How much you have experience in kite riding in 0-2m/s? Are your current kites even flying? (I don't expect answer on that, but I also use kite to power me in 0-2m/s. It gives a good touch to the kite and what it can do)

But there is no reason to start being offensive, peace. You can be good/best in LW but you have no right to start pushing everybody else down and lift yourself by yourself to the podium. I admit that I might have flamed you a bit because I saw that you seek all the means to pimp something without a reason(?) with these kite forum threads.

:duel: => :peace:
