I will be getting a used kite soon, and right now my options are a 2002 toro 12m or a 2002 CO2 12m. Both are in almost new condition. Which one is more durable? faster? more stable? easier to water-relaunch? larger wind range? greater depower? other differences?
Also, what bar typically came with the toro in 2002? how was it?
Thanks.

'fraid I can't compare the two for you, but I can tell you that I have just learned using the CO 2002 12m (12.2 flat, 9m projected). It's an easy kite to fly, stable and forgiving in gusty conditions. It's very durable and I have crashed it straight into the beach, into waves etc whilst learning and it still has no damage.
Relaunch is easy enough.
Check the leading edge where the carbon tip battens rub up against it - this is a common wear area and one to reinforce with some tape.
The bar set up is easy to use with a pin release on the chicken loop for safety, and a wrist leash to one of the steering lines.
Certainly the CO2 will do for you.....
Have fun
Mike

I have a Toro 14, also very stable and easy to navigate.
As for the construction quality, you just have to take a look at them;)

Tom...I think the bottom line is that they are both great kites and either one will be an ideal kite for you to learn and progress. Any comparison between these two will be personal and you may not have the same opinion as the reviewer anyway... If you have one of each lined up, buy based on ease of purchase, condition, colour or cost etc.
When I bought mine I decided on a few different mid-aspect kites and then bought the first good condition one that came up second-hand, on the grounds that they were all positively reviewed. It happened to be a Cabrinha.
Good luck and happy kiting,
Mike
