I assume the kite is slower to turn with this bar?

certainly
maybe it is for small kites, when you want em to turn slower.

Haven't read the website (my Dutch is a bit shaky) but the most obvious thing I see looking at the picture is that if you hold the small handles you can sheet in out on the fly - without being hooked in - by ising your forearms against the main bar.

I've been working on something similar for unhooked launching of my Arcs for a while. This may be the answer.

...also it should increase you available sheeting range when you
are hooked in - givign a extra sheeting equal to twice the distance
between the bar and the handles

.. in fact looking closely at the picture I see hardly any conventional
sheeting range - ie very short distance from chicken loop to adjuster
strap - maybe ALL the sheeting is meant to be in the bar rotation.

And of course if you do launch unhooked holding the main part of
the bar you will be de-powered (or fully sheeted out) instead of
fully sheeted in --which the conventional system forces (give
or take your adjuster setting) when unhooked - maybe that's
the purpose . .launch unhooked (and depowered) using the main
bar then hook in, switch your grip to the little handles and you have
sheeting.

Interesting. it sort of reassembles the whacked out double bar do dad design that hung vu was touting as the solution to the deadly trap he created... the chicken loop.

Riiiiiggghhhhtttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!!!!!

you can all stop laughing now, I 'm just repeating what I read.

This is one form of the new 3-D bars. Traditional bars can only turn left and right while unhooked. 3-D bars can turn left, right and change the angle attack of the kite while unhooked.

P.S., The ropes of this particular bar is a bit clumsy and can be improved. With proper roping, one can turn a large kite easily and quickly with only a 15" bar.
