What is your favorite kite for high wind?

Postby windshreder » Fri May 23, 2003 4:05 pm

What is your favorite kite for winds between 20-30 knots (23-35 mph) (6-7 beaufort) :?:

Please rate it upon stability in gusts, depower and fun factor :thumb: not how high you can boost.

My friend recommends the Wipika Airblast 6.3

Mach 1 9.1. Real nice in the range you mention, but have had it out when the average gust was in the middle 50s mph.

F-One DREAM 9M is so far the BEST among small kites for high wind I have ever tested. You must try one and you will know.

I have tried many: F-One Mach1 9M, Airush, North, Wipika, etc...

Airush Lift 7.4 2002, 85kgs on 138 Vari.

Turns really well, good stability, can work the bottom end to get you through the lulls.

Been out in some very gusty winds (mental), yes it did drop sometimes, but relaunced no problem. a good kite that is on offer.

My 8m AERO II goes sweet as in solid 25-30 knots. In the slow setting it's slower turning than my 12m X2. Had it out in some gusty stuff too when it was 10 knots gusting to over 25. My X2 would have put me in hospital but this kite was sweet as.

I like my Hydro 7m in high winds, I seem to have less of problem with gusts than other people with higher aspect kites.
