the thrusters on my directional have the flat side in.
I guess this helps as you're edging, the force created by the fin foil will be downwards.
I imagine that the shape of the flat side could be refined. A very subtle camber would make more down force, and allow for a thinner fin to help offset what ever drag is created by the camber.
