viva takoon who was the fisrt to build a bar with quick release. The only one, for me, which is interesting by the securit way of the kiteboarding. The others want moneys. I'm really angry about the silke's die. Condoleances for the family and friends (in french sorry)

Quick releases are a good idea, but they do not help if riders don't use safety leashes preventing kites from running and tangling into other kites.

The safety leashed should have quick release, too, for sure.

I agree with you this is the reason why I ride always with the securite line. in this way when you use the front line quick release you are link with the kite with only one line. The takoon bar are like this with a quick release on the securit line if you want to leave your kite in a last way. Be carefull and use securit leash and quick release. good wind

Style can´t be at the cost of life, can it ?
In Windsurfing you can risk your own life out there, in Kitesurfing unfortunately others are concerned as well. This isn´t funsport. That´s more of a war game.

flysurfer had a well working quick-release system before anyone heard the name 'takoon'

also, the 2nd version of the 2001 aiblast-bar had a quickrelease @the loop and one @ the leash.

there definately are approaches to safer kiteboarding.

This is indeedy the one that worx.

The designers of the 'Takoon' system, Mat Pendle and Bruno himself were also responsible for the similar wipika airblast system last year. These guys have been at the forefront of kitesurf design and safety long before there was any 'flysurfer'... or anything else for that matter.

what does it matter who had the first quick release, should you not be more concerned with those manufacturers that still do not have a quick release.

there are lots of people that could be 'blamed' for this accident

the organiser for choosing the venue and proceeding in the conditions

the other rider for releasing the kite

silke herself for not having a quick release or for riding too close to the breakwater to be able to release in an emergency

all the pros who are not willing to stand up for enforced safety at events

kite makers/sponsors for not providing adequate safety systems

the list goes on, we cant bring Silke back but at least we can try to make sure that hers is the only life that is needlessly wasted.

just wondering:
all this quick release systems will work will being dragged or only give you the folse & dangerus safety feeling.thats why i think that they should be oficialy tested maybe by comanies,,,

The shackle from a few messages ago will work !!!
This has been tested by several people, and that shackle will work under high load.

Others might not unfortunately.
