Hello, i need advice. I am intermediate level 70 kg and ride 160 cm mutant at low-wind area, normally wind is 6 - 20 knots. I have ARX 7,5 and Aero 12 now i am thinking to get big one for low winds. Now i can get new 2001 ARX about 2/3 price.

Question is ARX 17,5 good size for my quiver?

Thank for advance, Tom

arx 15.5 is good
arx 17.5 is bad, very bad
for your weight you will not need a bigger kite than 15.5

yeah.
don't buy arx bigger than 15.5.

didn't hear one single good comment about the sizes >15.5 - only people complaining about too slow kites, to much steering and holding forces, bad/no water relaunch.

i was told the arx 21.5 starts about 2 knots earlier than the 15.5 ...
so the 17.5 is probably 1 knot ...

I have both the 19.5 and the 13.5 ArX. The 19.5 is a newer version with the longer bar and I could say that there isn´t a big difference in turning speed. Yes, the 13.5 is faster but not sooo much. The 19.5 will water start but only in the upper end of it´s range ie. around 12-15 knots. So, no dropping of the kite in the "19.5 typical" 7-10 knot range... The 13.5 is a bit faster and can develop planing speed almost in the same wind as the 19.5 but not quite. Also, with the big kite, you get quite quickly on a comfortable planing without the need the run the kite for power... It´s all compromises.

don't get the ARX 17.5.
It has a reason why it is so cheap!
No one wants it anymore.
IMO specially in big sizes it is important to have a good kite, even if it is expensive.
Go for a X2 in 16 or 18 or Skoop 12.5, they turn faster and you will have more fun with it.

Dudes you are CRAZY!!

The arx 17,5 is the most powerfull kite you can get if you want to kite in light wind conditions. You can make BIG air with this kite...what is wrong with you?????

Ohhh Yeahh,

Fancy dude, are you one of these guys who thinks you are too good for the arx. Look at the guys in Maui, they don't bother about what year kite they have they just rip. Advice to you, just don't be so fancy just be on the water with watherver kite and RIP it UP!

just relax.
that is correct, with every kite you can have fun on the water.
It doesn't matter.
Last year I used the Arx 15.5 and for me it is too slow this year. So I'm looking forward to the X2 in 16.0.
But this is for my style better, maybe others prefer slower kites, since the X2 is faster for saure than same size ARX.
