in a german kitesurfforum (kitesurfing-kiel.de)
the idea of a whole new system came up:

not active, but passive.

the trigger for the safety should be something like the release of the bar.

-> like in jet-ski riding, where the leash stopps the ski - the kite hould be released in an emergency situation without the rider pulling some string.
IMO releasing of the bar's not the best idea,
there gotta be something better.

what do u guys think?

Isnlt this how mist leash systems come from the manufacturer? Am I missing something here?

Any kite I have owned (all naish) to kill the kite to drop the bar. There is nothing to activate.

The most 'automatic' safety system was the original Wipika 2 line deadman system. There was a trip line accross the bar, so if you fell of your board and got dragged through the water, the trip line would release one line. This was very safe, as you could even be knocked out, and your kite would automatically be depowered (hence the name 'deadman'). The big problem of course, was that kites would depower everytime you stacked. The system is also not much good on land.

well, everytime you're hooked up in the chickenloop, you're in danger - if you loose kite-control, you have to get rid of the kite by unhooking and therefore - powering the kite up.

the wipika-system only works for 2line kites ...

The solution:
Vice versa like the 'radio lock system' of Mercedes-Benz, which opens the car when you approach the car:
You wear a little radio sender on your body/harness/implanted, the kitelines are connected between bar and kite with a quick release combined with a receiver.
In case you let the bar go off it will cut off the lines on one side of the kite once the bar+kite is more than one meter away from you. Without lines on one side it will drop without any danger to others or the equipment.
Those car keys are very small, the receiver shouldn't be much larger, but it has to be embedded into some sea water proof case.

And there must be various mode on the system to not cut of the lines after the session when the bar is stuffed in the bag and you head for a drink

What you think on this?
