I am staying for a week in Barcelona ( the first week of July) and will like to know if I can find a place nearby where i can rock with my kite? If there are any kite schools and stores? And what can I expect from the wind condition?
Fly high,
Diego.

my sis went to barcelona recently and told me she saw kiters.
also, the kiteboard pro world tour had a stop there
so i think you can expect good conditions
i don't know anything about the infrastructure -> but i'm interested in hearing more about it!
or just ride a bit through town until u see the kites and then join 'em

Officially, kiteboarding has been banned (forbidden) at the Costa Brava on (!!) December 24, 2001!!
Unofficially, you could do it during the low season (NOT July and August!!) at the beaches of St. Antonii, Pals and St. Pere Pescadore (approx. 80-100km north of Barcelona).
You better not kite at the Barcelona beaches!!
Be careful during the high season July and August. The cops might cause some trouble, especially when the beaches are packed with tourists!!!
Take care!
Rainer

Hi, I'm from Barcelona. If you are looking for a school, you can visit http://www.flyworks.net , is one of best school of the catalan coast.
The conditions are perfect to practice and learn kite, wind strenght 15-20 knots and no waves.

Loads of people were kitesurfing in St. Antoni when I was there in May. However, it is not the best (resp. safest) place at the Costa Brava. Depending on the wind direction it can be rather gusty there! Furthermore, the spot is very close to a bridge and high buildings, so fly safe!!!
Take care!
Rainer

Hey Mardelcoral,
since you are from Barcelona, is it corcet what Rainer wrote, that kitesurfing is banned at the Costa Brava?

I'll be in Barcelona as well in the first week of July and I'm also interested in kitesurfing there. I've already contacted the flyworks school but nobody replied so far.
Anyway, if somebody would be interested in going kitesurfing together with me at that period, please contact me at damjan@hermes.si.
Tnx.
