Several new accounts have been added to the KSI including two very serious ones. Knowledge about how to avoid kiteboarding hazards is still being learned and spread. Kiteboarding safety gear is not 100% reliable under all conceivable circumstances at this time. Until such time more reliable systems are developed we need to exercise particular judgment and use what protective gear that is available to avoid or if necessary better manage accidents and incidents. Once misfortune is in play the outcome may be uncertain and may have little to do with kiteboarding skill but more with luck. Often the only certain outcome of a serious accident is using proper judgment and knowledge to avoid it in the first place.
