in a german forum, there's a discussion about boardleashes & helmets ...
how do you (over there in ???) do it?
u use boardleashes?
which ones? (elastic/stiff/reel)
and do you wear a helmet when using a boardleash?

Ever since I got 3 stitches on my forehead from the board slingshoting back to me during a wipe out, I wear a helmet and use a retractable leash.
The reel leash did reduce considerably the slingshoting effect of the board but I still enjoy the extra safety of the helmet since I usually ride in on-side-on shore conditions with small waves.
The ideal would be to ride leash-less with or without a helmet but that's not always possible and it very much depends on your local conditions.
That's my opinion anyway.
Regards,
Mike
