The 2002 Gorge Games have just terminated, the conditions were perfect, 20
to 25 knots , a lot of sun, a lot of beautyfull girls and the top riders in
the world.
The perfect combination for a successfull event also thanks to the
organisation of the Gorge Games who did a perfect job.
After a one day competition with a single elimination, the Slingshot team
proofed to have the strongest riders in the world.
Results
1. Mark Doyle Slingshot USA
2. Martin Vari Cabrinha ARG
3. Jeff Tobias Slingshot USA
4. Ben Wilson Slingshot AUS

The slingshot news on that page is pure speculation and rumor. None of that is or has been in any official press releases. If you call slingshot and ask them about these rumors, as I did myself, they deny them as being true. As good as the news sounds, everything isn't always as it seems.

Slingshot is on their way to world domination, no doubt about that whatsoever. They not only prevailed at the gorge but are doing well all over. Good luck to them.

In Spain and Germany you don't see many Slingshots.
Here Naish, North and Wipika rule.
So I guess worlds domination is still far away.

Some friends of mine, slingshot riders themselfs, watched the gorge event and thought the judging was rather poor with a thinly veiled bias toward Slingshot.

C'mon guys, it's figure skating on water. You pay the judge, you get the vote.

This thread is unfuggingbelievable!!
..judging was biased
..pay the judge, get the vote
..Naish rules
..friends of mine said..
get real!
Mark Doyle was hands down the most consistant rider at the contest. And in his final heat, he let it go and ripped it up. He deserved the win that he earned.
This is just one event. Slingshot has proven themselves in several of the most recent events and will continue to do so I am sure. No way all the judges at all the comps can be biased. World domination is a long ways out, but time will tell. Let's just keep our eyes on the scoreboards of the contests, and may the best kites win!

I THINK THAT AT THE PRESENT THERE ARE TOO MANY SPECUTALION ABOUT BRANDS AND PILOTS. IS THE PILOT THAT MAKES THE BRAND, OR IS BRAND HAT MAKES THE PILOT. I BELIEVE THAT MOST OF THE TOP PILOTS ARE GOOD WITH ANY KITE, AND IF SOMETIMES THEY WIN OR LOOSE, I THINK IS A QUESTION OF LUCK .

Julien Sudrat (Slingshot) went to the event in Cabarete. His gear got stuck, and he then trained with Takoon (Skoop + Boost). I have some little video of it. The things he did....

And that was with a kite with a totally different characteristic than the Fuel (lots of backline tension vs. little backline tension)

So lets just keep it at the pilot makes the success (but a good kite helps)

grtz,
Dènis

it is the pilot who scores, since the kites have quiet similar performance. Maybe an X2 gets you higher and you have more time up there, but still they all get quiet high.
Maybe with a foil there is a difference.
Let the judges judge and the riders ride.
