Does anybody have any infos about kitesurfing in Dahab / Egypt.
We will go there for wind- and hopefully some kitesurfing this fall.
thanks a lot for any tips.
I was there last fall. It is usually very windy. There is a lot of coral along the shore, so it's not ideal. I'm a beginner but I really wanted to kite, so I launched from the coral area anyway. You should have booties and a wetsuit because of the coral and sea urchins.
There is a nice sandy beach area at the southern part of Dahab (I think it's called Dahab City, it's where the nice hotels are). But that area is where all the windsurfing happens and kitesurfing isn't really allowed except early in the morning and at the end of the day. There is a small lagoon that forms near there at high tide where kitesurfing is allowed anytime, but of course, it depends on the tide. At low tide there is nothing there.
When I was there last year, there wasn't much in the way of equipment or anything. A couple of the guys that rent out windsurfing equipment have their own kites, but they don't rent them out.
By the way, there's fine scuba diving in Dahab.
