Hi,

I would say Kuredu Island Resort is the best island for kiteboarding. It further north and is normally windier than the Male' area.

Kuredu re-opens after renovations in October and will have a nice kite center on the beach.

Check http://www.kuredu.com and also http://www.kitesurfmaldives.com

I went to the Maldives two years ago and had a great time!
Warm water, very constant wind, within 12.5 days I was on the water for 9.5 days with a 16, 11.5 and 7.5 sqm surface area kite.
Time: beginning of December.

I went to LTI Villa Sun Island, which is the biggest resort island in the Maldives.

Very important is, that you can kite at high and low tide! At my island it was no problem, I was always able to go out.
They had a nautic station rithere and a bar.
Perfect logistics....

And they have waverunners and a boat, so if something happens, you will be secure.

Once we had offshore winds and I went to another island, which is from the same hotel group and I was able to get something to drink and a shuttle back to my island.

here a pic of my island:

That island is a good choice.
I guess the one Bengan mentioned is very good as well, since it is a kiteboard center, so all you need for kiting will be on that island.

very important:
make sure your island won't be too small, this way you have a reserve for going upwind or downwind to be more secure.

I heard from Bengan that the best winds are from November to March. (wasn't it, Bengan?)

Enjoy your trip!
