Seems interesting that they put a lot of flex in between the footstraps?!
Wonder why they do that...

According to the brochure it allows flexing when the wind picks up... It's true though that flex is normally put on the back/front part of the board. Maybe it allows you to adjust the flex when riding (a bit like on a snowboard)?
