Hello all,

For those of you in northren europe, check out http://www.FoilFest.com.

I believe it is the first Foil only kitesurf event. A cooperation between Advance, Boom, and Flysurfer. Possibilities to test all the newest foils, Psycho, Vector, Depower Rhea. Possibilities to win free kites from flysurfer. Mini trick clinic put on by team riders from Flysurfer.

Location is Skiveren which is the northren most point of Denmark. Long sandy beaches as far as the eye can see.

Come and meet other foil pilots like yourself or come and check out all the latest gear...

Don't know what happened with the subject line. I just reposted under a different heading.

Tubies can come as well, but we are thinking of having a pump patrol and a big pump bonfire... No pumps allowed  Just kidding, bring your tubes or whatever you fly, but bring an open mind as well...

Best regards,

Marc

Sounds like a great concept. Let us know how it goes. In addition to the pump bonfire you could also swap launching techniques. The tubes could launch straight downwind in gusty, strong conditions and the foils could self launch at the side of the wind window. Could be entertaining.

I never tried it in my foil days, but it occurs to me that you might be able to do an unassisted side window launch. You would need an inflated foil and would anchor one wing tip with the kite aligned slightly downwind. Has anyone tried this?

Have a great event!

I actually did this with my FOne STW 700 at the time. Not much fun, since it wouldn't fly up to zenith at the edge of the powerzone, but rather required to be flown right through it.
I am happy those days are over...

I did it a couple of times with my Flysurfer Speedair. But it oly works in relatively constant winds and you have to preinflate very well. With the ARC (only wedged ones; donno why) it works pretty well. In especial with a experienced assistant. Nearly no difference to starting a tube.

But if it doesn't work you get it dirty man!

I always launch my foils unassisted to the side of the window. That is a great benefit of the foils. In light winds you launch straight downwind. In high winds you launch to the side.

I never preinflate either when launching on the side...

Over the next couple of weeks there will be a lot of info on the site with videos of launch techniques, landing techniques, etc...

Best regards,

Marc
