A big 'thank you' to everyone who posted about the Fusion harness.

I think I have solved the problem for myself. The world is held together by duct tape and zip ties and my harness will be no exception. I have converted it into a 'step in' system where the snaps no longer come apart. I have not tried it on the water yet, but it makes it no harder to put on.

Royce, I have to disagree (from personal experience) on you comment as follows...

"No matter what waist harness you wear, unless you are just cruising it will ride up no way it won't. If your's doesn't then go get a bigger kite and fly powered."


I use a DaKine Thermoform waist harness and it has never ridden up on me. I think a waist harness will be different on everyone, but some of us have no problems with them and love them. I started out with a seat harness and switched because I liked the freedom in the hips for better board control in the waves. If anyone is frustrated with a seat harness at least try a waist harness, you might love it.

As far as the last line in your comment, you won't see me on the water unless I am overpowered. I weigh 125 lbs (56 kgs) and use an 11.5 Naish in 20-25 kt winds. When I am looking way down at the tops of windsurfing mast, I am pretty sure I am powered up, and still the harness doesn't ride up.

Like everything in Kiteboarding, a harness is definitely a personal preference.

Get the Dakine Waist Harness. It's Great. I Dunno About The Pyro Version But The Normal One works fine for me, Doesnt Ride up to my chest as long as when i first get into the water I wiggle the straps to make them Super Tight.
Also has some sort of "Quick Release" system which ain't the best as when you have the harness on tight they are near impossible to open.

But on the Upside , It comes With a Free Line Cutting Knife just in case.. Wohoooo

Andy...I can see that some harnesses work diferently for every rider but go hang yourself from something vertical for like 5 minutes and find the pressure points for your harness.( No sarcasm implied) More than likeley on that style it will be where the bar attatches to the harness as it rolls to support your weight. Now bounce up and down on that thing and tell me if it or the bar rode up on you. Another advantage of waist harnesess is that you can twist inside the harness. To do this you can't secure the harness tight. This is a big plus for the waist especially blind and I don't know about you but I have never ( and tried yours also ) found a harness that doesn't ride. Esspecially no footers or really hard wipeouts. As for powered. Go big stop movingPut your kite above you. Your kite should easilly hold your weight out of the water at full power standing on the board.

I wear my waist harness extremely tight. Like weight lifting belts, how can you get any support if it is loose and you are able to twist inside the harness. When I am on the beach putting it on it is tight to the point that it is almost uncomfortable but as soon as there is pull from hooking in, I don't even feel it. When unhooked kiting I don't feel it either, maybe it is the adrenaline because when I am done with a session and am back on the beach with the kite down, I do have to loosen it a little or take it off. It is still more comfortable than seat harness to me.

Sure the bar moves up an inch when I hook in and the kite is at 12 oclock but even when jumping you are not in this position for 5 minutes. You are spinning, doing tricks, going upside-down. Even one footers your body is not verticle so the harness pulls away not up. I have had nasty crashes and have had the kite go through the power zone. It's in the same place when I take it off.

I don't want to gain weight, maybe that is why the harness doesn't ride up, no resistance against the harness.
