Hey guys/girlz
my local dealer and good friend has a second hand Moskito + 9 with
full rig for 300 Euro (about the same in USD), wadaya think should I
git it like tomorrow as soon as I fall out of bed or not? Any idea of
the wind range of this kite, I saw 2-7 knots on one web site
http://www.xtremebigair.com/KiteSurfing ... review.htm
but that sounds silly, another said 4-12 knots, which sounds more
realistic but still pretty low/optimistic. I'm looking for more 6-10,
on a big bidirectional (170) would be great, big directional if not. Upwind and low jumps, too much to ask?

2 years ago it was considered a good light wind kite. Today it would be considered junk. Look around for something else. Really, you can do much better for $300.00.

I had one for a short time a couple of years ago. I had always heard that it was a lightwind wonder. In my case at 170#, in the open ocean with a variety of board sizes to chose from, it wasn't. I throw my vote in with Dwight's, look around some more.

Thanks guys,
What kite do you reckon I should be looking for then? Big lightwind foil 6-10 knots for 75 kg rider.

Any second hand ones around thad'd suit my needs. I've heard the mastair 16 would be what I'm looking for but it would be pretty hard to find one of those second hand wouldn't it. New it's about what 1,200 USD?

6 knots is a dream. 8-10 knots is possible with a big board. You can find 15.5 AR5's and 16m Wipika Free Air's for $300.00. ARX 23.5 is real cheap and known for being very powerful. Add a pulley bar and the kite may be fun.

Thanks Dwight,
They're all LEIs right? You don't reckon foils are better for under 10 knots?

a foil will do good if you can handle it

the flysurfer kites are excellent babies, the mastair 16 has the best low end i know - 7knots are enough for 160 tt and 75kg rider to go upwind.
but you're right with the prize.
if you know anyone who has a mastair 16, suggest him to try the brand new psycho 15.5 (in stores soon) and he'll sell the mastair ...

the wipika freeair 16 is another lightwind wonder - they measured wrong - it's 18m or something like that.
i know guys who have the freeair above their 11.8 airblast...

if you're able to fly a foil using handles with your eyes closed when someone wakes you up in the middle of the night, you may also buy the mosquito, but look a bit and you'll get it cheaper!

Thanks Murdoc, problem is here in Italy foils are pretty rare, everyone uses LEIs, me too. My biggest kite at the moment is a 16m fuel, fine above 10 knots, zilch below.
Any idea of the wind range of the 16/18m freeair?
