My buddy had a hard crash on his three month old F-one Magic 12 meter kite today and the entire main panel just exploded and ripped out from the seams. What gives? Is this par for the course for a hard crash?
Thanks
Dennis

It is all to common. I have recently seen big main panel rips on Air Rush, Wipika, and Ocean Rodeo kites that occured with hard crashes. It is just is part of our sport.

Most panel rips can be repaired OK. But the kite may never look like new again.

Ditto. Has happened to my old RRD 11.9.
$150 to repair, but looked like new.

The kiterepairs had to use 3 different colors of nylon to recreate the "beatiful" stripped look of last years Type 4. A lesson learned to avoid complicated designs since they are usually created with multiple different-color panels which become a b..ch to repair.
BTW the repair shop (a sailmaker in OR) told me that they had to use a magnifying glass to see the details on some of the stitches on the panels. Could that be accurate?
