Just a word to anyone just starting like myself. If you are practicing body drags, leave your board on the beach. I recently had to learn the hard way and came back to shore with a tip full of sand and rocks at the seam of my board. Not to mention a heavily ground down skeg...Now I know what the term "tomb stoning" means.
Have a blast!

Not sure if the link will work...If not,
please check it out at

If you go to 'destinations' and click on the map at Japan, Okinawa will appear.
The island is actually not near mainland Japan at all. Its south a few hundred km's. between Taiwan and Japan.
There are about 20-30 riders so far, and the numbers are increasing...as well as restrictions to certain areas. The wind is great. Summer is our dry period, but there is usually at least 8knots all the time. We are in the 'typhoon-alley' and it is GREAT before and after the storm. The island is ideal for riding. I can't say much about mainland Japan, but if you are in the area, there is alot to enjoy.
Appreciate your interrest Toby.
Have a blast!

Nice! I am interested in kiting in the mainland area, as I soon might relocate to Tokyo for my job....
Do you have any links/sites/contacts to share for further info?

I wish I could help you Jido, but I have never Kitesurfed in Mainland Japan. Okinawa is quite and distance away, few hundred km's, and is a totaly different scene. If I hear anything useful for you, I'll be sure to post it on the forum.
with regards,
Have a blast!
