Hi Sean

We use Impact vest extensivly for Wakeboarding these days people are getting very technical with there tricks and blow outs are a very common thing  hence the need for Impact vests! Now with Kiteboarding we seem to see far more riders adopting the Wake sytle of kiteboarding and I could see impact vest helping us out too. For a beginer I suggest some sort of flotation device be it a Life jacket or a impact vest....the impact vest of course not offering as much flotation as the life jacket but they help nevertheless.IMO I prefer the impact vest to a life jacket they usally fit closer to the body and are less restrictive.

Check out some Impact/life vests at....

Specs

The new version of the shock absorber vest is here! The core characteristics are the same as for the last one :a neoprene flotation jacket with velcro closure, specially conceived to help protect you in case of fall or of collision with your board! A system of velcro flaps allows precise and fast adjustments. Its high cut shape allows use with a waist harness!
Even when you are on the spot, your body needs to be rehydrated : the new version of the shock absorber vest is supplied with a water bag located in the back with a passage for the pipette in the jacket! A new pocket for the knife has been conceived, located on the shoulder (easier to use) and closed so that you can not lose your knife, even in case of a rought fall! Helps you for flotation, but this not an aproved lifejacket!

Ultra resistant neoprene
Foam 35 mm
Sizes available : Small / Medium / Large / X-Large

If you're doing technical tricks or starting to jump, you need to wear protection! What's $50-100 for a vest, or impact vest, when compared to the value of your life?!?

Definitely do it. No one in this sport that spends $1500 on a kite and a board is too poor to afford a vest.

Looks killer! Do you know what the zippered pocket on the front side, below the hydrator tube is? I wonder if it's available in black and what the price is. I'll email bump&jump's dealer & ask. Unless you already know, that is! Thanks for the lead.

Hey Phree,
I´m pretty sure they have it in black too. I have seen it up close, a friend has it, and it is nice and well built. The zipper has a pocket so that you can put in anything you want, your car keys, a gps locator, a cell phone to check the latest stock quotes, etc. The camelback is nice, and goes into the back pocket, probably fits a little more than a liter of liquid.

Hmmm, the new Da Kine integrated vest/harness sounds interesting. Anybody seen it or have pics or source to post?
