X2 Wind range

They sound like they are very good kites.... but they aren't available in NZ and i don't import....

The 20m AERO for me is a luxury kite... there aren't too many days in Auckland where it's very light wind and most of the time I'll be using my 12m X2.

I agree though...... the psycho looks like THE lightwind kite.... especially if it jumps better than an X2!!.

Getting off topic a bit now, but the reason most choose inflatables over foils, is consistent performance/no hassle.

- If they get wet, they still fly with the same performance
- If they get wet sand on them they still fly fine.
- If you can pack them wet, then use it straight out of the bag and they still perform.
- You can kill the power by using the safety and 98% of the power is gone, you can't get sand inside them which would affect performance.
- You can wash them out by pumping them up on your lawn and hosing them down! they dry quick, (try that with a 16m foil..)

They can't be any more of a hassle to set up and wash down than a large C Quad..... as with all admin problems you'd get used to it..... but if the performance really was that good it's worth a few hassles every now and then.... expecially if you had a big intermediate hard pulling inflatable as backup.....

The Psycho 15.5 or Warrior 16.5 sound like great low wind solutions, and according to what I've read and heard (will experience soon), are much simpler to set up than the inflatables, water relaunch 10 x faster, have a much, much better saftey release system, harldy ever luff and never Hindenburg. Add to that, the fact that if you are psycho enough, due to a suposedly phenomenal depower system, you can use these babies in 20+ knots, and you have one mindblowing piece of equipement (if it is all true - so far I haven't seen any independant user reviews). Only thing is the price tag - 1600 EUR is steep man!!

So we can really hear how good they are. People rave about the mastairs so if these are just as good or even better.... They are gonna kick ass!!

for the unacquainted, 1600 Euros is $3300 NZ, which is more than the largest inflatable that anyone sells in NZ. And it'll still fly badly with sand on it/in it...and be a pain in the ass to wash out..and will feel so different to your high wind inflatable that you'll have to relearn everything... no thanks.

Yeah at least with an all tube quiver your flying style won't need to change.... just your session plan

Psycho handling/depower is exacty the same as inflatables, u dont have to learn anything. Only need to know the power this psychos have when you power them up.

If the Psycho has the windrange people say it has them you won't need a 16m inflatable so it will end up saving you money... The ideal quiver then will be...

Biggest Phycho... light winds

12m X2.... 13 - 25 knots

8m AERO 20 - 35 knots....

or other kite types of similar size...

not that expensive for something you enjoy doing.....
