I was speaking with a manufacturers rep last night about mounting leash issues and he had this observation to toss out. He indicated that most of the major kite manufacturers will likely supply quick release chicken loops, QR harness lines and a potentially spinable kite leash systems in the 2003 model year. Some of the mystery behind this should be removed and reality revealed at Surf Expo next week. If this comes about, safety should definitely get a needed and somewhat overdue boost to catch up with good, sometimes too good, kite power characteristics.
