more reviews on the Boxer

Postby Toby » Sun Aug 24, 2003 11:54 am

friends of mine took out the new Boxer 12 in stronger winds (5-6 Bft = 17-22 knts)

they were amazed by its great depower and lift.
Jumps went over 10m and it hnags very well.

So this kite sounds like a kite for every rider, not matter if beginner or pro.

I will select more impressions and write a longer review with pictures next week.

Toby,

The Boxer might be the SUV of kites. Few questions to consider on the next write-up more or less summing it up:

durability and construction
depower by edging or chicken loop
wind range
UDS bar system?
do-it-all kite (jumps, waves, tricks)
relaunchibility
are the pro's competing with the Boxer and if so are they winning?
good sizing of 6,9,12,16,19 ?

I keep hearing the kite is good for beginner to intermediate and OK for 2 years or so. What does that mean? -- you'll outgrow this kite because A) your skills outgrow the kites potential, B) the newer kites will even be better or C) ???????????????????.

Another question comes to mind is the Boxer more or less an Aero II but marketed towards the 'beginner to intermediate' label. I'm getting confused with so many lines of Naish kites.

The BoXer is beginner 4 lines....
But fun for all.

The V4 is a grunty kite, for intermidatet, but fun for all, except beginners.

The X3 is for the ones who knows what a X3 is..

Aint that bad.... Just pick your style.. :thumb:

the Boxer is beginner to pro.
for beginner since it waterstarts very easy and it has a very good depower range.
This makes it great for pros as well, since you can go out in higher winds and jump high when you pull the bar for more power.
In the surf it is great to epower the kite a lot so it has less pull.
Lift and hangtime are great, but the kite oesn't fly that aggressive which is positive for beginners.
So it has its potential but only shows it if you know how to ride/fly it.

I didn't hear from a size 19.0 but it should make sense to produce it.

Hi Guys,

I totally I agree, had the chance to fly the boxer for a while and it is a cool kite. I like it a lot and I can put my beginner friends on at as well as getting big air myself with it. Have the 12 now but will get 16 and 19 as soon as I can get my hands on them.

Seem to me like these kites could be the kite version of the V8 engine. it seems to be ideal for ever purpose. will have to get my hands on one and give it agood going over.
