ss fuel wind ranges

Postby Kiterich » Fri Sep 05, 2003 9:42 am

Just about to buy two split struts, either 17m and 13m or 15m and 11m. I am 90kgs and like to be well powered. I am pretty sure i need the 17m and the 13m. What are the rough wind ranges for these kites? would the 13m over lap with my 8m x2 or should i buy the 11m ss aswell?

I own 17/13/11 as I share with my girl friend. 11 with your weight should be comfortable up to 25/26, that´s where I start with my 7.5ARX. 13 ist great from 15 to 20, 17 for the rest below. 11 is more than just 2 meters below 13, it feels different and is a KILLER jumper. Struts are also significantly smaller than 13. Nice machine ! 17/13 is a must, 17/11 to far apart, 17/13/9 to go for an overall quiver, if you want to drop your 8. Anything in between is dependant on your prefered riding locations ! (In my case I´d like a 15 for south winds at Lake Garda)

aloha

I have a 9/15/19 2003 Fuels and I cover winds from 9-35 knots:
19: 9-16kts
15: 13-23kts
9: 17-35kts

I'm close to 90kg rider, 141 SX board.

(BTW: 9 has in my opinion huge wind range. I am using a longer depower strap, though, but I could not believe how quick can I start staying upwind with that little "toy". I've been riding 9 as well as 11 and find 9 to be much better. BTW: I'm using the same bar and line setup for all three kites (apx: size of the original bar received with Fuel 15)!

Regards.

sorry for the delay rich, been busy selling. lots.

you weigh a little bit more than me but ride a similar board.

i only use the 15 and the 11 this year and they cover me
15-14mph-24
11 18mph-30+

so for you i'd definately reccomend the 17 and 13, the overlap is good but not too big and this years kites have more usable top end, maybe 2-3 mph, which is actually a shit load.

the 17 should do you from 12-13- 20 and the 13 from 18-30+ anyhting over 30 with the 13 is purely down to how ridiculously powered up you want to be.

i had an interesting session on last years 15 a few weeks ago, when it was gusting 20+ and i snapped my depower.. that was overpowered.

kites will be available in about two weeks time and if you are buying them locally then your dealer has the price list as from today. same prices as last year in the uk, cos we love you guys so much.
