Quiver : -- R2 20 - R4 14 - AMP 7.1 --

Postby The_Rookie » Thu Jan 15, 2004 9:49 pm

Hello guys , i need your opinion on this 3-kite quiver :

Rhino 2 20m
Rhino 04 14m (SS Fuel 15 2004 ?)
AMP 7.1

I already have R2 and the AMP, just need the third kite and i thought to R4 14, or Fuel 15 2004... What you think is better ? Any other suggestion ?
I'm 90kg, medium/advanced kiter, riding Jaime Pro 128x37.5...

My friends ride the new slingshots and they are solid. Great kites

My other friends also ride the Norths. Also a great kite.

If you can try both that would probably be the best answer. I personally would go with the North, but I really do like the one pump from slingshot.
You really can't go wrong with either kite, though.

Off topic - how do you like your amp? what size bar do you use with it? What's the wind range at 90 kg?

good setup, don't know about the AMP, never tried it.
But R2 20 with R4 14 I think is one of the top setups for 2004.

I have R2 10/14/18 and think even R2 18 and R4 14 is too big a gap.
I would go for a r4 16 or the ss15. I have tried both of these kites but only for about 1/2 an hour. However I tried the r414 for about 12hours in different conditions and was hoping to swap it for the r2 14. Not a good option IMHO. I am 92kg on 130 wavetray and 152 wavetray type custom.
Hope this helps. Still looking for a new quiver.

I had no problems with last year R2 20 + 14.
Noweven a setup of R2 20 and R4 12 would do.
I know a guy who only had R2 20 and 10....

R2 20 and R4 16 is also good, but then you need a 4 kite setup.
20-14-10/9 is a very good 3 kite setup.

R2 20 grunty kite
r4 14 deffinately not a powerhorse (way less grunt and lift than my 12.5 LF tension)
amp 7.1 also on the grunty side

So I'd go for bigger r4 or a kite with more punch in that size.
Otherwise the gap between the 20 and the 14 is too big.

just my 2 cents.

20 and 14 is a a good combo, of course 20-16 is perfect but then 16 -9.5 is very wide gap. The R4 14 is a very balanced kite, it works well at the lower end too, 14 kTs is enough for having fun. The Fuel is a nice kite to but is a different concept than the other two kite you already have.

I'm your weight as well.
I can fly it from about 14/15 knts to gusts up to 30 knts.

But I'm experienced and my board has an excellent edge to hold the power of the kite!!!
