What was the BEST 21 meter kite like? other lightwind kites?

Postby adjas » Mon Apr 05, 2004 5:35 pm

Before everyone flames me, I'm actually really interested as a rider what the 21 meter kite flies like (I'm hoping someone from the egypt K.S.I. event can give me their input)

now a general question. (not specific to BEST)

I'm the happy owner of a 2004 fuel 17 meter kite (which I enjoy riding)

but there are days (seems so many of them) when the wind is not enough for me to stay upwind on my fuel 17 (but still enough to kite I'd imagine)

personal info (I'm about 72 KG & love riding my SS misfit 122 (also got a 140 cyclone board) (don't want to ride a big board on those less windy days because I want to be able to jump high and do technical tricks)

I've been reading every post on lightwind kites here, and I think I know of all the available options (no foils plz, I've tried 'em not my cup of tea)

I've read about the monkey 28m, takoon mamoot 20, v4 30, etc......

which 1 do you think I should spend my heard earned cash on (and in case you were wondering, I can't be traveling to windy places every weekend to kiteboard)

just a message from a rider to the rider community.

in short words:
I would prefer the Nemesis 21 over the Rhino4 20 !

But nothing is as good as my R2 20!!
But it depends on what you expect from a kite.

A longer review will follow next week.

unfortunately not, but I would have loved to.
I will give it a try when I'm back in Germany.
Hopefully the German importer has one.

I think it is a good kite, since I saw Mark Shinn ripping on it, and he did nice big jumps, but mine on the R2 20 were at least as high.

yes i know Toby..

Love the R2 20 for jumps, and the hangtime, but upwind SUCKS, even the V4 20.0 are better here.

What i like in the V4 is the fast stering.

What i like in the R2 is the hangtime, and good hight.

What i seek, is a bit more upvind in light wind, and the same hangtime as the R2.

Thanks Toby - can't wait to see your review. Heard Egypt was a blast. I think Jeff, Thomas & Keri will be sleeping for a week...
