What's Your Favorite Kite Size?

Postby Dax » Mon Apr 05, 2004 7:03 pm

I know that 10-12m is the most efficent kite for their size, but I must say every time I have a good light wind session on my 16m I'm stoked. The water is not so choppy, its less gusty, jumps aren't big but they are very floaty. Everything moves slower, and as such has a much more meditative quality to it.

I do enjoy the super lit days on the smaller kites too though.

What's your favorite size?

Freeride I like high aspect kites 12m next favorite 10 next 14 next 8 or 9 and last 16. For me once you go over 14 kites are too slow but still very fun-but I am used to high winds though. For waves I prefer 9m medium aspect slightly underpowered.

My 11m fuel is by far the best kite I have ever flown.

but kites in the 10-12m bracket are the best of the crop anyway yeah?

I has everything I want its fast plenty of lift. WKD!

I love 12s and 14s (12 overpowerd  the best!) and also 16---on water.
Frenzy 7sqm and 9(overpowerd) on land
on snow a 8-10 LEI or a 7-9 foil (depends on wind!)

cya!! 8)

My G-10, or better yet my G2-11 which i have yet to fly with many waves.

I also enjoy a nice flatwater session on a 12m kite, but i think i'd like a 12m medium aspect more.

I'm finding myself (Though I may be lonely in this crowd  ) with a particular fondness for the PL Guerilla 18m.

I don't know if it is because I'm used to flying it as compared to my other kites, but I really dig it.

It's as steady as a rock. Though I can't boost like I can with the 13m, the glide on the 18m seems like you're flying for a LONG time. It is really fantastic for ramping waves & just sweet soul-riding.

And the color scheme matches my motorcycle (perfect!).

Sid im absolutely speechless, i mean i've had a couple great sessions down at my old kitespot on the g18, but god , nothing comes within HUNDREDS of miles, of the sesssions i've had on my g10 or even my g13.

Maybe the reason I am so stoked about my 16m is where I ride. Current helps keep you upwind, and its not the slightest bit gusty.

Big kites have a different pace for sure. Sometimes its nice after a hard days work just to have a nice and easy session. Don't get me wrong though, I'd go crazy if I couldn't have a super lit 12m session every once in awhile too.
