5th Element for M3 F-One. Lengths and Pic

Postby DrLightWind » Fri Apr 30, 2004 6:49 pm

I'm going to set-up the 5th line for my F-One 2004 Spinning Leash Safety Bar today and try the system this weekend according the following sketch up dated with all the line length.

I wanted to use the original safety system and components without any extra leash. This way with the benefit of chicken loop becoming the leash and 5th line when the bar is pushed out in this set-up.

Additionally the reflex kind of activation time is reduced because you don't have to remove any hands off of the bar and less tangle with the benefit of easy pull on the heavier Nose Blue Line under the Stoper Ball for relauncing the kite.

Any improvements or comments?

So, according to what NORTH says, you should be able to have a bigger range because you gonna use 3 attachment points on the LEI instead of 1 only.

Let us know how it works.

By the way, do someone knows how to add attachments on the LEI ? I would like to try it on my X2 14.

As I understand it from the North 5th element discussions, if you want to have the rigidity gains of their system, then you would have to put a stopper ball of some sort at the metal ring, on the bar side.... that way when the kite is stressed and it trys to stretch into more of an oval shape (from more of a circular shop), the stopper ball pushes against the metal ring, which in turn is being held down by the front power line... that is what stops the kite from flexing and makes it more rigid... when you release the bar, the metal ring is free to slide towards the kite...

Now if we take the KCS (or CLS) and we put a "stopper ball" before the trim strap (with the correct line length etc...) we can keep the "C" shape of the kite as well...

The important thing in the "5th Element concept" is to keep the tension all the way trough the LEI ; and (IMO) you can be able to create this with a KCS system... (with the "Y" in plus)

What do you guys think of this ?

Just finished seting-up the lines and bar today, but it was already too dark to try it and fly it.

I used Q-PowerLine Pro for Left and Right front line to the ring and single front line from ring to the trim strap.

This weekend I will be testing it and let you know the result.

Hi eutanator,

I'v been thinkering on this set-up for couple weeks after I saw the Wipika's CLS video. The Break through came when North released their system.

I'v been monitoring how you did yours and all the opinions to refine it for F-One 2004 kites since they already have the 3 attachment point on the LE.

Let's hope will have a good result and share our experiences through this weekend and keep changing until it's going to work included the tangle mass.

Good luck with it,

DrLightWind

Eutanators experience of line wrap after stalls made me quite sad as so far I´m happy with the system, but only used it in stable winds so far. But now time has come that my gusty home spot - lake with thermal winds - is going to awake from its winter sleep ..

looking forward to your respective experiences .. :bye:

Hi DrLIghtWind
I'd like to try that system in my f-one mach 3 wings.

What is the length of the front and center line that you use.

thanks
