Homebrand 5th element - Centre Line

Postby Pete_W » Thu May 06, 2004 11:49 am

Has anyone found a suitable centreline substitute for Homebrand 5th E mockups?

Some guys are using 600lb Q-power line, but at 90+kgs I reckon I could easily generate more than 600lb (~280kgs) load in this line during a botched kiteloop or other nasty stack. I have already broken/worn a set of Slingy lines since starting to loop etc.

I was thinking some 2mm/3mm climbing cord, but no one seems to make this in spectra, most cords dont have load ratings, and some I found only had tensile ratings of 180 kgs (less than Q power).

This cord is supposed to be 7/64" Ø, but looks bigger in the pics, also no load rating.

Also it would be cool if someone (keener than I) was to document the relationship between angle of the v and kite performance, I reckon there would be a premium angle for each kite and each size, given that this angle is what is going to alter the inward pull on the front tips.
