Nice drawings of possible 5th line and Y setup

Postby kruzlifix » Wed Jun 09, 2004 10:04 am

hi there
Paddy in the german Kielforum published some nice drawings about his conception of a possible 5th line and Y set up.
I thought it might be of interest to the international kiting comunity.

actually that's not a drawing of a possible 5th line, but the drawing of the north 5th element system.

There is no need for stoper ball 1
Stoper ball 3 is duing stoper baal 1 and 3 functions.
Les lines and less balls - simplier system.
And for what purpose is those adjusters on back lines ?

Is the length on 13m for the green Y lines a standard length or would this vary according to kite size. The answer may be in the text but my German sucks.

Thanks
Ryan

Maris: I've had three North bars and they all had back line adjustments - I am assuming you can tune out any drift to the right or left, but I've not really needed them.

It also looks like balls #1 & 2 keep the sliding ring within a limited area. I have not see this in person, but it appears the sliding ring keeps things from getting messy, as a loose 5th line would like to wander around.

Dun'no anything for sure, except I'm sewing one up for my R16. I made a Recon 5th line for the back, but this looks a lot better.

5th line

Postby kruzlifix » Wed Jun 09, 2004 2:23 pm

@murdoc:
5th line or fitfth element. I hear this idea has been around for many years....
certainly the "5th element" is just one variation of the 5 th line....
viva la PR!!!!!!!!!
@ ryan:
the 13 m is slightly different according to your kitesize.
I just have one line with several different knots at the end so it can be attached according to kitesize.
and I agree with maris: the simpler the better
Andreas
