Who got the Mach 3 16m

Postby damo » Sun Jul 25, 2004 9:11 pm

I been using this kite for about 6 weeks now, and man I can not tame this animal and I thought i could hold an edge. even with my smallish 125 cyclone custom I can not hold it past about 18 MPH without losing my edge. It puts me off using it in case the wind gets up and im f#cked.
It feels like a 19 not a 16.
I use my old Naish bar not the F one bar.

Any one else got one/ what do you think of this kite??????

Got the 16 and 12 and I really like them. The 16 pulls hard but can hold it with 62 kg, 24 meter lines and a SK8 128.

I use it with the F.One bar and the bar-pressure is hard when you don´t use the depowerstrap. Often I´ve pulled my depowerstrap on maximum and then you have less pressure on the bar and you can hold it longer!

Maybe this can help, but also try 24 meter lines. Good luck!

I have the M3 16m for 8 months now and that's my favor light wind kite so I know how you feel about it.
I suggest for you to read my following post how I tamed my 16m for my light weight:
phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2302565

I'm using 20m lines on my 16m.
You also need a longer depower strap because the M3 Bar has 2 for the front lines and 1 each adjuster for the back lines.

I am using an airush depower strap, I think I will make my back leaders a bit longer so its depowered alot without using the strap. I have set up a 5 line made out of an old kite line and 3mm rope just like the one on the fone LF5, in fact I copied it but changed it for 27m lines. I think it needs tuning as it was slightly slack with the kite depowered. Worked ok for relaunching landing but did'nt give me any more top end like the DrLightwind.

get real guys, three of us bought the kite at the same time, i came from 16 mtr mach two and 19 mtr mach two, after 10 hours use in 18 mph winds i sold mine to my mate who weighs 19 stone, and now is over powered and cannot hold the edge in 20 mph,by the way he is into quad spins, and 30 ft jumps, no wimp!! I found it dangerous!! I am 15 stone and happily used my 16 mtr mach 2 in 25 mph, the other guys want to dump their mach 3s. for the same reason, longer back lines dont help!! been there tried it.face it . the kites a killer, dont go out over powered near the hard stuff, it hates overpowerd kiters. i loved mach one and two.

Not just me then!! My mate was out with me yesterday on a 19m EH and was in way more control. My old Rhino 1 16 could hold way more wind than the mach 3 animal, should have kept it, I really liked my old Rhino. Well I will give the 20m lines ago and see what gives, Best ones are cheap enough.

More Mach 3 16m riders please contribute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am the danish importer for F-One.

The feedback I have gotten on the M3 16 has only been very positive! It can not be compared to the M2 16 since they are very different kites. The new M3 16 is a real light wind machine. The M2 16 was almost a high wind kite.

The M3 16 gets you going really early, has great hang time and lift and due to its smaller size, is much more performant than bigger kites which will be slower due to their larger size.

The wind range has not been decreased, it has only been shifted down. The m2 16 had a super high end and the M3 16 has a super low end. Two very different kites.

Best regards,

Marc

I hear what your saying Marc so it is really a 19m in the body of a 16m, so your still f#cked when the wind gusts up.

and the moral of the story: Dont sail near hard objects on a Mach 3 16m

Hi Damo,

Ya, I guess you could say that the M3 16 is a 19 in the body of a 16.

But I think you should look at it differently. If you put the 16 onto of the 16 from last year you will see that it the new 16 is larger than the old 16.

Also, I think many people have a 12 and 16 kite. Last years M2 16 overlapped quite a bit with the M2 12. This year, the M3 12 and the M3 16 are a good quiver with less overlap.

Best regards,

Marc

There is a very simple way on looking at the issue.

Using the kite within the wind range as indicated on the kite and the bag of the kite should not cause any problem.

Using a kite far beyond its wind range will cause control problems whatever brand is being used.
