"It makes no sense hiding it any longer: after all the difficulties we had,
we would also have the right to feel sorry for ourselves
...but no. You may think it’s surprising,
but even now we’re having fun, believe it or not!"

Cheer up Christo
You'll probably get a Guiness World Record when you get home
...for the first crossing of the Sahara by river.

Check the map/route again
Nouakchott > go to coast for kitesurfing >> Fast Forward to Boutilimit >> Fast Forward to the river > Follow the river to Rosso > continue to follow the river to Saint Louis (at the mouth of the river in Senegal :D)
They'll be finished in no time.

"Sergio spends now nearly more time in the air than on the water!
Hey guys, i´m missing the picture to this comment. Does anybody see it?? :o

Maybe they refer to his secret trips to Ibiza and have no picture cause it´s forbiden to take pictures in airline flights.

Oh maaaan, what are we gonna laugh about wenn they finish this Trip of Plesure on ice, eeeehhhrr...on water...eeeehrr,sand??
maybe we´re lucky and they mix up directions again, making this joke last a little longer!!!!

no airhead - he is not a nice guy. In fact he thinks he is, but nobody on the beach likes him and if you should have the bad luck to meet him in person, you will see why.
He is an obnoxious, waaay past his prime old fart that just doesnt get it.
He is good at bullshitting - hey, he managed to live that way for the last 20 years. Ask the italians on this thread, they know him well.
And well now he found tasty - the same kind of bullshitter except that hes french and that he actually CAN kiteboard.
That "sergio in the air" picture - its not there yet but if it appears, lets bet its a little hop with both hands on the bar and tucked in knees?
Noone has ever seen him do even a crappy BACKLOOP.
Sad story really - i know kiters and windsurfers who bust their ass to get any kind of sponsor just so they can get some material a little cheaper, and this REDBULLSHITKING is getting payed for doing a two day photoshoot and spending the money at home in ibiza.

oh sorry.. I stimulated you with the ATLANTIC CROSSING and you are now asking for links....wow..huihui.... no computers in Italy at that time.
I used to work with windsurf mags (around '82 / '85) and I should ask them for old copies and scan pictures and stories, translate and give it to this forum (together with some NEWS that came in during the following times, talking about Sergio's records and WORLD titles, achived playing on the beach with his friends). But really, this desert one is really unespected to me. What a man, I love him, our flying stud.
I think PLAY BOY should have sponsored him.. May be for the next one.
I will try and see what I can find.
Hope I can help you and myself laughing longer.

It should be titled:
How to cross the Sahara without actually crossing the Sahara
