Toad, I knew I had dropped a clanger when I wrote that one, actually I am not Welsh and I didnt yet take up the reputed pastime using wellies and sheep. (Smile)

I have lived in Wales for four years now, most surprised that the Non Welsh seem to outnumber the Welsh.

I wear booties most of the time when not riding bindings for protection ... ever slice your foot and not able to ride. The key is to find the right booties. I agree with calikites on the split toe. I have a pair of split toe body glove boots which are perfect. Hope I can find some more when mine wear out.
They are very similar to these except there is no strap.

I have the prolimit split toe, but I think that is what makes it so hard to get your foot in the strap.

there's only one (ok, actually it's two) true boot:
the camaro or attan (they are built identical) latex boot.
the sole is made of some super-soft latex material that provides you with
barefoot-feeling while the attan comes in several thicknesses, up to 7mm - that would be the boot of choice if you want to go out in sub zero conditions.
you'll freeze your arse off, but your feet stay warm ;)
i always thought i couldn't kite with booties until i found the camaro.

I use a neopreen sock and putted some Bison Marathon on the bottom to create a wear resistend sole of 0,5 mm, works great BUT when it is really cold you need real shoes with a thick sole.
And yes the bare feet feeling is gone, at least you still got some feeling in your feet after a session..

I don't like wearing booties because I loose the feel of the board. I just don't feel like I have solid control and do not get the feedback from the board.
It is a little like wearing condoms. If you need the protection, it is better to wear it than to risk the consequences.
