Hi there,
I'm trying to plan a trip for July in the southern hemisphere, most likely going to Australia for logistical reasons. After looking around, I am unsure whether I can expect to find any wind in Oz in the winter, may be around PErth or somewhere on the west coast?
If someone has other good advice for spots in that general area of the world at that time, I would also be grateful...
Best

July can be good at the Whitsundays, or anywhere up north in Queensland. West Australia is probably good up near Exmouth way. Basically, stay north for wind in Austalian winters.
Fiji might also be the place for you if you're considering somewhere (relatively) nearby.

fly into perth, pickup a britz camper van, drive about 10 hours north, sit on empty beaches with plenty of swell and 20 knots by 11am

sounds good in theory, in practice it doesn't work.
Anywhere In WA won't have consistent wind mid winter. Your better off not bringing gear and not wasting whole days sitting at the beach waiting for wind.

Thanks for the replies everybody.
@Toby: yeah, thanks, did check kitebeaches, but got some contradicting advice from somewhere else, so wasn't sure.
Hhhmm, still not entirely sure what to do. Advice is kind of 50/50. Regarding Fiji, it's just a bit too far (I'm flying out of Africa), so probably West Oz in the end...
Cheers

Never been there, but look at it all the time, I think it would be hard to beat North QLD this time of year.
