France, L’Almanarre kitebeach?

Postby Oleg » Wed Jul 20, 2005 7:26 pm

Hi,
I will be in France in Toulon and Giens city from August 1 to September 1.
I am looking for detailed info about L’Almanarre kitebeach, hotels (maybe room for rent near to kitebeach etc), and local kiteschools.
Thanks

Not really my area, but August is probably a bad time to go. I wouldn't be suprised if it's closed to kiting during this period - too many tourists...

Look into the local Hyère kiteboarding association website for some information at:

I understand that you can have very gusty conditions with wind out of most directions with the exception of the west due to land/mountain influences. I agree, be sure to watchout for the crowds and any kiting restrictions.

hi
we have a some special rules during summer beetwen the 15 june and the 15 september.
you have a channel to go out of the 3OO meters from the shore.
it's really recomended to have a comfirmed level.

the hka association are very friendly and they should be ready to help you.

Thank you for advices! :thumb:
It’s look like kitesurfing in Almanarre, Les Salins and Saint Raphael is forbidden for summer time….( http://www.kitebeaches.com/kitebeaches/ ... php?id=828)
My client will be staying in St.-Tropez and I need to find some place for kitesurfing as close as possible to him (he is beginner).
Can you recommend anything in that area?
Thanks
PS: And fellows, you are welcome to Russia! It’s no forbidden places for kiters here…

best place to start is beauduc... Problem it's a bit further west...

as tama said the almanarre spot is far from the safest if you're beggining... I've been there once and will never ever kite again up there... On one side you have on-shore wind which can be very gusty, a 10m wide beach and the car park with trees, electrical posts and everything to kill you easily...
On the other side it's off-shore wind with a 10m wide beach as well, a fence to break the wind on take off and you'll need a good level to manage the gusts as well: off shoe gusts...

If you get there, start by talking to the locals from HKA association, ask them for weather conditions, dangers and authorization!

Have a good stay in france!!! :thumb:
