Bring something warm to wear. You will need it if a Norther slams in. The wind can be nice and steady, but cold. Last year it snowed on Christmas. A few days later we were in shorties.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

How about October?

ikitesurf.com history charts show a pretty good Oct in 2004, reasonable in 2003 and pretty ugly in 2002 (close to half month with no wind).

What to bring?

Been going to the Island for 22 years chasing wind during spring and fall.

October is usually good, usually warm (82 to 90 degrees) except for the occasional norther.

When I go this October I'll bring a 9, a 12, a 14, and an 18 along with a big board and a small board. I weigh about 200 lbs. If you weigh less, you can sub a 16 for the 18. Point is - be prepared for anything from 15 to 35 and you'll be OK. However, if a strong norther happens to hit, it can blow over 50.

Padre Is a great trip between Christmas and Newyears.
We did it a couple years in a row.
Rooms are cheap that time of year 29.95 per night at the Days or Travel lodge.

You never know what you will get with wind or temp so bring it all and an alternate form of intertainment.
Also no crowds short of the Snow Birds (Older people mostly from Minisota it seems usually with Winibago)
See Ya
