PKRA News:

Registration took place this afternoon for the first tour stop of the 2011 PKRA World Tour season in Hua Hin, Thailand. Registrants from more than 15 countries from as far as Brazil to Japan made their way to the beach to enlist their names as part of another successful action packed year of kiteboarding.

Do Gisela Pulido and Andy Yates have what it takes to defend their world champion titles? It will certainly be the test of skill and determination to determine this possibility.

Despite the light, gusty and unpredictable winds today, and total of 2 races were completed for the Qualifier event where Heikki Gross from Estonia stole the show again today finishing first in both races. Mod Chanchan from Thailand had a great racing day as well, finishing second place in both races while Slovenian rider Rajko Vodisek finished third in the first race of the day followed by Nung Hanjai from Thailand who took third place in the final race of the day.

In the women’s race division, Ramona Serea from Romania finished first in the first race of the day but received a DNF for the final race of the day. Fon Jantawan managed to take second place in the first race of the day however out ran her opponents in the final race of the day finishing first. Meaw Pittman finished the first race of the day in third place however earned a DNF for the final race of the day.

The wind picked up enough to run the freestyle discipline. The first round of men’s heats were completed but game to a halt when the wind suddenly dropped to less than suitable conditions. The remainder of the freestyle heats will resume tomorrow given the wind and weather conditions permit.

Tomorrow’s mandatory skipper’s meeting is set for 10:30am with a promising outlook on the wind forecast.
