I was at Diani Beach Resort. Wind was perfect. Allways sideshore! Water wasn't! You can only go out at hightide. Thn there was this havy algy stuff kelp kinda thing comming in with the tide. Than there was the beachflys!!!!
Human AND the small buggers. I hade my legs open for about two month.
..And you can't realy get across the beach in peace as groups of locals stop you to get money, your clothes and shoes, or try to sell you something. It was realy havvvvvy. Felt like a prison sometimes.
Otherwise fun

Hi there

I am also considering Kenya, Diani reef or Nomads, but in June. What are the conditions for kiting like then?

Thanks

hi papa,

are you the same papa from the oase forum? July is one of the best months. Then we have the south pasat.

But Kenya is not the best spot for Kiters if you only wants to kitesurf. You can have best wind conditions but you also can have no winds. IF you are also interested in diving, golfing or just beach holidays or safaris than you can have a lot of fun if there is no wind.

Best times are mid Dec till mid Feb and June/July to begin of Sep.

Just an example why i warn you. Cristmas time i called Mombasa, they told me perfect wind. Begin of January a friend was there and was crying because no wind. End of January I was there and flew the most time my 15m2 with my 100 kg. You see the ris is high compared to other countries and spots.
There a three places where you find kiters. One is in front of the Nomad hotel. There is a school. H2O .... forgot the name (this is in the middle od Diani beach). Then there is an other school who has two bases. One in Galu Beach (southern part) and on in front of the Diani Reef Resort in the northern part.

Diani Reef Resort = only kiting in high tide
Nomads = mid tide and high tide
Galu Beach mid tide and low tide but earlier than Nomad

Take all your kites because of surprises in the wind.

Take spare parts with you. There is no chance to buy something.

I will be also in Mombasa in July.

I was there a bit over a year ago. Didn't really like Diani, was much too touristy and touts everywhere.

Went to Cheshale north of Mombassa, was one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at. Run by kiters for kiters. Nobody on the beach to harass you. Great food. Etc.
