Probably so. I'm sure I'm biased, but to me it seems far more interesting than some of the myths they cover that could be put to rest with two lines of analysis on a whiteboard.

Don't even get me started on curving bullets.

Haha I also find their methods quite frustrating... One that springs to mind is the one about toast falling buttered side down, arbitrary method of testing an arbitrary myth :x

I don't get it.

Where comes the pressure from when you are nearly reaching wind speed ?

There only remains the apparent wind until the vehicles kinetic energy is used ?

Your question has been answered many times in this thread. I suggest rewinding to the beginning and giving it another try.

Re Mythbusters, I don't think this concept is simple (dumb) or explosive enough for their perceived market.

I'm still looking forward to finding time to finally build a large scale twin-prop (for dynamic stability) composite downwind missile to achieve about a zillion mph.

Cheers,
James

James,

JB and I are threatening to build a "full-scale" version to carry a rider during this off-season. I emailed you to see if you had interest. Perhaps I used an old email address(?)

As J.S. indicated, there's a lot to that question. But the quick answer is - no it doesn't rely on the stored kinetic energy of the vehicle. The cart has a propeller on back that is geared to the wheels. Even at windspeed the prop is turning and therefore producing static thrust. While the frame of the vehicle sees no apparent wind when going directly downwind at windspeed, the blades of the prop do still see a relative wind since the prop is spinning.
