Link/Rebel Kite Quiver

Postby Johnny Casino » Sat Aug 05, 2006 5:58 pm

I'm looking for a 2 kite quiver of either Rebels or Links. I'm 220lbs and am coming from a 16-12-9 C-kite quiver (2003 4-liner's) that covered all the range I was interested in kiting (13k-30+). I have tried some 16m bow/flat kites and basically do not like them but like the 12 and 9's. So I'm thinking:

Rebel 14/10 or Link 15/10.5.

From the company listed wind ranges, the Rebel's have way more range but I think Slingshot is being overly conservative in their ranges (or North is being overly optemistic). I'm sure both 10/10.5's fly great, it's more in the 14/15's. Has anyone flown either of these kites in the larger sizes yet?

15 / 11 Instincts to cover from 11/ 12 till 40+ knots

Hands down the best kites ever...

And they are going to release a pro version an triple the price

Jokes apart .... Ozone makes better quality than both brands together and for my taste the best 5 liner bow on the market.

Saludos

Panchito,

Is the 15m Instinct fast for it's size? If so, I'll add them to the list.

40+ on an 11? :P

I was Yesterday kiting with a hole bunch of Ozone guys in Valdevaqueros and the wind was gusty like hell from 15 to 30 knots ....some times 35 knots

One the folks with 90 kgs ( 200 lbs ) was on the 9 having a blast on the water..... he has been riding GK since years and bought a Sonic 11 some months ago, end of the story his new quiver are a 13 / 9 Instincts....

So with your weight 220 lbs on a 11 till 40 knots ? easy

The Ozone guys has been spending a lot of work before they released the 15 kite and it is a bit more higher aspect than the rest , if this kite equals a 18/19 C kite it moves like a 16 C .

I haven´t seen the Link but what I have seen form the Rebel I did not like much..... that kite flatters a lot when you sheet out the bar.....but as always it is a question of taste

Saludos

PS : On Thursday we were lucky to get 12 knots max of wind and I was ( 72 kgs = 160 lbs ) staying upwind on my 11 kite , including some small jumps , on this conditions I would normally rig my 17,5 Machine.......

So Yes I am amazed about the performance of these kites

If you weigh 75kg and really want to by two kites then the 13m/9m combo would be great.

However you could own the 11m and perhaps a specialist light wind board for 10-13 knots along with your normal sized TT and cover WITH EASE the 10-30+knot range that is 99% of kiting.

One very experinced kiter here has just replaced his whole C-quiver with the 11m Instinct and couldn't be happier.

These kites have by far the widest 'sweet spot' of any kite I've ridden.

They ARE a one kite quiver!

Cheers,

DK

I guess Switchblade 9m2 06 and a Contra 14 works equally well?

Hi

I have a 11/7 quiver and 73 kgs

BUT!!!!!

I´ve also got a one board quiver ( a bowboard ) 136 x 42 so it gives me a 2-3 knots better low end .

And by the way , I was Yesterday kiting with a 9 ( Ozone demo kite ) on 15-30 gusty like hell knots and was a blast !!!!!

But if you like to ride small aggressive boards , the go for the 13/9 combo

And yes you need two bars.... but better also for re-sale.....
